Chesterfield Twp Police are investigating a burglary/theft of approximately $60,000 dollars, as a result of a diversion scheme against an elderly resident. A subject described as a white/light skin Hispanic/Eastern European male, approximately 25 years old, 5"06" - 5"08", stocky build approached the elderly victim's residence and stated that he worked for the Township. The subject requested the elderly subject show him the property line at the rear of the residence. After approximately 10 minutes, the subject rushed to a white work van and left the residence with another unknown subject. When the elderly victim entered his residence he found the money was stolen.

The Medford Lakes Police Department is urging all residents to be aware of similar diversion schemes, elderly scams, and suspicious persons. All Borough employees are issued Medford Lakes Borough Identification cards which are to be carried at all times when performing work throughout the Borough.
